Mr. Reuben Jego was born in Masuga, Kontagora Local Government of Niger state. Mother hails from Masuga (Niger State) while his father hails from Mahuta, Fakai Local Government (Zuru Emirate) Kebbi State. His father was an educationist. l had the opportunity of attending the following Schools: S/Fegi Primary School, Gusau (Zamfara State), K/Doka Primary School, Zaria (Kaduna State), M/Rafi Primary School, Sokoto, S/Gari Primary School, Gwadabawa, (Sokoto State) between 1972 to 1978. Federal Government College, Warri, (Delta State), 1978-1983. State College of Arts and Science, Sokoto, (Sokoto State) 1983- 1985. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria 1985-1988. Nigerian Law School, Lagos 1988-1989. National Youth Service (FCE) Omoku River state 1990. Institute of Advanced Legal Studies 1998 

He was appointed a State Counsel in the Ministry of Justice Sokoto and with creation of Kebbi State, he was moved to Kebbi State Ministry of Justice in 1990. He rose through the ranks to Director Civil Litigation (2004). During his stay in the Ministry of Justice Kebbi State, he served in different capacities including Legal adviser, Kebbi State Board of Internal Revenue, Legal adviser, Kebbi State Housing Corporation, Member, Election Petition Panel (1991) (2000) (2004), Member of Tribunal for Recovery of Public Funds (1992) and Chief Legislative Assistant (2000). In 2007, He transferred his services to the Supreme Court of Nigeria as Deputy Chief Registrar till date. 

He was the best in arts award at State College of Arts and Science Sokoto 1984 and Best student in Criminal Law Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria1986. 

He is married with children.
