About Stephen Jonah Adah
HON JUSTICE STEPHEN JONAH ADAH, JSC.
Hon. Justice Stephen Jonah Adah, JSC, was born on the 30th day of July, 1957, at Dekina, Dekina Local Government Area of kogi State.
The learned Jurist was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1982, after a successful law programme at the prestigious Ahmed Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. He did his compulsory national service to his fatherland at the Ministry of Justice, Akure, Ondo State, from August 1982 to July, 1983.
His Lordship’s first Judicial appointment was in 1983 when he was appointed a Magistrate Grade II from where he rose to become a Chief Magistrate in 1990, in the then Benue State. He was one of the Pilot Judge in the Reformation of the Area Court System in 1985, in the then Benue State.
In March, 1991, His Lordship joined the Federal Judicial Service as a Deputy Chief Registrar (DCR) and Admiralty Marshal (substitute), a position he held for about seven (7) years.
The Learned Law Lord was on the 12th November, 1998 appointed a Judge of the Federal High Court and after 14 years of successful and meritorious service at the Bench of the Federal High Court, on the 5th November, 2012, His Lordship was sworn-in as a Justice of the Court of Appeal, where he served until his elevation to the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the 26th February, 2024.
As a result of His Lordship’s honesty. Hard work and dedication to the course of Justice, he was appointed the Chairman of Commission of Inquiry into the activities of the Plateau State Government between 2007-2015. He was also a member of the 5-man panel that heard and determined the 2003 Presidential Election while at the Bench of the Court of Appeal.
Hon. Justice Adah, jsc, is a devout Christian who has passion for equity, fairness and justice. He has attended various legal Courses/Workshops both at home and abroad. He has received so many awards and mentored many young lawyers and Judges. He loves reading, traveling and football.
